Thus, graphic artists need to know how these products are like in the realms of art so that it will ease their pain when such a project is assigned or offered to them by instructors and clients.

Calendar

A calendar is a well designed one-page or multiple paged paper pieces used to organize days for societal use. It usually has a chart showing a year divided into months, weeks and days.

Various institutions and associations have designed their own calendars which are mostly given to clients and other members of the general public as a way of broadcasting the activities of the institution. Calendars of this nature bear the name of the company, the logo and the popular trademark of the company. The arrangements of the months should be sequenced so that gleaning of information from it will be very easy. The colours used should be harmonious and the typography style must be legible. If an illustration couples the text,it shouldn’t be distractive neither should it be ambiguous. It must be descriptive of the activities of the company.

-

Postage Stamp

This is a carefully designed paper piece usually in small dimension that is affixed on a letter or document to be mailed as a proof of payment of the mail. The amount or fee is inscribed on it as well as the country of origin. Mostly, there are illustrations on postage stamps that depict the culture of the country of origin. For instance,a postage stamp from Ghana may depict pictures of interesting sites in Ghana such as the independence square, national flag,Kakum national park, picture of the present and past presidents, abundant natural resources in the country etc. The backs of postage stamps are glued so that it can be affixed on letters.

This implies that, artists who are offered such projects must carefully think through and design the buntings so that the general appearance will be suitable for the occasion.

-

Flags

Top 5 Materials Used In POP Displays

In the retail world,”POP” refers to point of purchase advertising displays. POP displays can take various forms; shelf-mounted signs, standing floor displays, hanging posters or danglers, end caps, inserts for stanchions,contour-cut standees and countertop displays. These are just a few of the POP display options which maximize product visibility and impulse purchases. Since an estimated 70% of purchases are made within the retail store itself, point of purchase displays can have a dramatic impact on your brand’s sales.

Today’s POP display printing technology provides creative and brand managers custom marketing advantages,as POP displays can be printed to the needs of local markets. It has never been more important for brands to use point of purchase displays to cut through the clutter and improve category performance. Unplanned consumer purchases are often the norm,so an effective,well-designed,gorgeously printed display or hanging graphic may sway a consumer to buy.

Planning and designing a point of purchase display and selecting its materials is a complex job. The right substrate for your POP display campaign is essential. There’s a lot to know about materials and the right mix of them can make or break a display.

Below we explore 5 types of rigid materials commonly used in short and medium-term retail displays.

Styrene– Technically known aspolystyrene, this resin-based plastic is commonly found in everything from packaging to toys to advertising displays. For printed graphics,it is available in thicknesses from 10 pt. to 120 pt. and comes in an array of opacities and colors, with white as most common. Styrene provides an excellent print surface and easily cuts to shape, providing excellent solutions for stanchion sign inserts, shelf talkers, ceiling danglers and aisle markers.

Wondering what “10 pt.” thickness means? A “point” is 1/1000 of an inch, meaning that “10 pt.” stock is 10/1000 inch thick. This is also referred to as 0.010 thick.

-

Foamboard– Made of extruded polystyrene foam, sandwiched between paper liners. Often produced in white,it is ideal for tabletop signage with an easel back. Economical and lightweight,Foamboard comes in 3/16″ and ½” thicknesses which makes it a great choice for contour cutout, life size standees. One of the most common uses is two-sided hanging displays in grocery store aisles.

Gatorfoam &Ultra Board –These two trademarked substrates are produced with a durable core of polystyrene foam.Gatorfoam, also referred to as Gatorboard,is bonded on both sides by smooth,moisture-resistant,manmade wood fiber veneer. Ultra Board has two thin sheets of styrene adhered with the foam core sandwiched between them. Either one is great for added stability and dent-resistance when compared to Foamboard. In addition to all white, these boards are available as all black and in various combinations of black core and white and black faces. Standard sheet size is 48″ x 96″ but they are also available up to 60″ x 120″ and in thicknesses up to 3″.

-

Expanded PVC– Created from closed-cell polyvinyl chloride (PVC),the most common brand name is Sintra. This material is extruded with a matte finish, has a slight texture to it and is rigid, yet lightweight and durable. At half the weight of a solid PVC,Sintra has superior dent and scratch resistance, with thicknesses ranging from 1mm to 26mm. All thicknesses are available in white, with some also produced in color. Sintra easily cuts to shapes using the same techniques as Foamboard fabrication and can also be heat-bent to create self-standing pop displays. A superb choice for semi-permanent point of purchase floor displays, end caps and hanging pop displays, expanded PVC comes in standard and oversized sheets helping create larger than life displays.

-

HOT IDEA– Don’t limit your design to square-cut graphics. Only the most creative messages will get through to your customer. Unlike flat images,a contour-cut point of purchase display graphic can achieve a 3D appearance, commanding the attention your POP display deserves. Be sure your graphics provider utilizes a precision digital cutting system on their shop floor.

How To Use Guitar For An Audition – Here Are Our Tips

Having the chance to audition for a guitar concert is an exciting and also to some extent a stressful experience.

After all the guitar lessons you have attended, you now have the opportunity to tell others how much you are a guitarist.

If you are attending a guitar audition for the first time, you should read these tips to help you before, during and after the nerve-wracking performance. -

Before The Audition

Make sure you get a copy of the song you will play weeks or even months before the casting date. Remember the basic concepts of the musical theory of your guitar lessons as you study the piece carefully and memorize it. If the piece is composed of complicated chords or if you playing for the first time guitar chords containing many unknown techniques, learn it piece by piece. Guitar teachers are your best collaborators when it comes to a complex piece.

Don’t hesitate to get help from your mentor. Also gather some information about the act, band or group you are auditioning for. If it’s a band, listen to their songs to get an idea of what kind of guitar music they play and what they are expecting from promising candidates.

Try playing guitar chords from the band’s songs and see which riffs and scales they use. Rest and sleep the night before the audition. If you are tired and sleepy on the day of the audition, you may not be able to properly focus on your part. And when you audition for a metal band or rock, you definitely need all your energy to play the piece.

During The Audition

Attending an audition with guitar is like going to a normal job interview. This gives you the opportunity to impress the reviewing committee and convince them that you deserve this chance. To make a good impression, dress appropriately and be on time or arrive at least 30 minutes before the show.-

This gives you enough time to prepare and configure your equipment and even interact with other candidates. When talking to other contestants, pay attention to your ways and never let your ego get the best of you. Even if you think you’re a better guitarist than some of them, don’t be too sure. They need the confidence to do their best on stage and there is a big difference between believing in yourself and boasting.

Concentrate on your play during the show and don’t let anything distract you. Strum your guitar strings and give the best performance ever like it’s your last one and let your instrument create a beautiful guitar music. If you know that you have done your best, you will not regret it even if you don’t get the job.

After The Audition

After your performance, don’t forget to thank the music director or managing body of the event. Pack your equipment and leave the scene as fast as you can, because another is probably waiting for the presentation.

Avoid criticizing yourself after the audition because it will not help you or matching your confidence level. If you have not been selected, consider this as a learning experience. Other Chances are there waiting and you still have a lot of auditions before you to attend.-

Why the Swiss take risks (and win)

By John Sage Melbourne

Welcome to the second part in my series about the Zurich Axioms. Today,we’re going to cover the very first major axiom and what it suggests for you,an individual on a journey to discover your wealth frame of mind.
So,as I mentioned in the last post, the factor that the Swiss investment companies of the 1980’s were so successful was because of their understanding of risk.
They knew danger much better than anything else related to the investment and made wise investment choices based on threat alone oftentimes. Let’s look better at the very first major axiom of Zurich.

The First Major Axiom

How typically do you feel anxious about things in life? You might think that being worried suggests illness which it is awful for your body, but in truth, worry is an advantage, and you ought to learn to accept it.
In the first significant axiom on danger,we find out that being stressed about something means that you’re taking a threat, and to be successful in your financial investments and in life, you need to take risks practically daily.
Some risks are more substantial than others, and they’ll stress you more than others too. Still,if you feel concerned and anxious about something, that means that it deserves pursuing and has the chance to make you wealthy.
The Swiss understood this, and they welcomed their fears and worries and learned to silence them and even delight in the sensation.
You must too.

Minor Axiom I: Constantly play for meaningful stakes

Adding onto the last point,if the worry of losing the amount invested doesn’t terrify you, then the chance of making a high percentage gain isn’t highly likely. You ought to go into the playing field unless you prepare to win and win big at that.
In order to win big,you need to invest more than you feel comfy. Keep in mind that I’m not encouraging you make poor choices, but I am advising that you try to find risk and worry in your investments. That’s how you succeed in the long run.

Minor Axiom II: Resist the lure of diversity

You’ve most likely heard the investing saying “don’t put all of your eggs in one basket” before. It’s a caution that investors ought to diversify their portfolio,so they aren’t risking all of it on just one investment.
Here’s the important things– diversity has 3 major flaws that your monetary consultant probably does not want to inform you:
1. It goes versus the theory if betting substantial stakes and winning huge.

2. When one location of your portfolio has gains, the gains are balanced out by losses in another location, and you only break even if you’re fortunate.

3. You’ll lose focus of your essential financial investments.
You shouldn’t be afraid of threat, and you must put your money where your mouth is. Deal with investing like a video game and the only method to win is to win big.

There are still eleven more Zurich Axioms that you need to discover, and I’m going to cover them in future blog site posts. Give John Sage Melbourne a follow on social media and sign up for this blog,so you do not miss out anything in this series.

Holiday pay and umbrella companies – the facts

You do not work for the whole year or if you work, holiday allowance is worked out pro rata.

-

An employer is responsible for paying holiday pay. But when you use an umbrella company,it is you who covers the price, not the company. Normally the amount of holiday pay works out at 12.07%,which is 5.6 weeks divided from the rest of the year (46.4 months). Because your holiday pay comes out of your money, umbrella companies accrue holiday pay and keep it until you take time off. Other firms might pay every month or week instead to you. Some companies will offer both options, but might use one and ask if you would like it you to request the other option. Your holiday pay should be shown as a separate item on your payslip, and can not be included in your basic pay.

When you decide on an umbrella company, look at how you can check on your holiday pay. Many umbrella companies have handy online portals that enable you to check various details, including holiday pay you have available. But if you can not easily see how much has been accrued, you can simply work it out by using the percent over (12.07%). Calculate the hours thatyou have worked and utilize the percentage to get the total amount of holiday pay which you have accrued.

It’s essential to be cautious when you’re looking at umbrella companies in connection with holiday pay. If a company is not open about their holiday pay policies and procedures, you might have to be concerned about how they handle things. Some umbrella companies are more compliant than others,so you want to be wary of any that might not make it clear they cover holiday pay for contractors. Be sure you look carefully at the employment contract which you are given so thatyou understand you will get holiday pay from the company.

If you use an umbrella company, you should get holiday pay. Don’t forget to check how you will be paid when choosing a company.

The Swiss rules to building wealth

What rules and principles do you follow in your investing methods? In the last series,we covered the ten guidelines of the to help you become the best financier you can. Now,I wish to shift focus these guidelines and offer you with some axioms I’ve learned throughout the years.

What is an Axiom?

An axiom is a declaration of belief that everybody knows to be real. Hundreds of years ago, people would have thought of something like ‘supply equals demand’ as an opinion, however since then it’s been proven over and over, and we know it as an axiom.

The Zurich Axioms

This leads me to the main topic of this and future blogs– the Zurich Axioms. Here’s the backstory on them:

Back in the mid-1980’s,a man named Max Gunther released the book The Zurich Axioms that spilled the beans on the Swiss monetary world.

For those that aren’t old enough to bear in mind investing before this, everybody was focused on the income they were making. All of us wanted to make as much money as possible, and the real investment preceded and foremost before any other part of the decision.

The Swiss did things differently. Basically, they were squashing it in the investment and were beating everybody. As an incredibly wealthy country, everybody would like to know how they did.
That’s where Gunther can be found in.

Comprehending Threat

What the Swiss investment companies were doing in a different way was that they concentrated on danger and comprehended threat to its really core. They cared more about the risk an investment positioned, not the prospective profits given that the lower the danger, the better their possibilities of investment success.

If you ask the Swiss at the time how they did it,they would state “by making wise investing choices.” We all understand that wasn’t the case. In reality, this risk-centric approach was just in their investing DNA. They took this technique for approved and didn’t treat it as a brand-new way to method investing, however rather the only method to do it.

Why the Zurich Axioms Matter

There are lots of things that you can (and will) find out from the Zurich Axioms. Essentially, there are two main point of views from which to see them.

For one, they show that there isn’t one best way to method investing. In some cases the most counterproductive ideas can be the most successful. At the time, the Zurich Axioms were out of the common, but now we understand that even the wildest investing principles can work.

Second,The Zurich Axioms reveal that there are no guidelines in the investing world. You are the individual that produces the rules, but there isn’t a concrete list of guidelines that you should follow to a tee. You’re free to experiment and attempt brand-new techniques to see if they work.
